Do you have personable and individual care plans?
Every resident will have an Individual Care Plan that details their current health and future well being. Every direct care-giver will know the latest information about the resident. Families are encouraged to be involved in this process.

Can the residents have their own personal items in the room?
Yes, any items that residents would like to bring from home to make them feel more comfortable that do not interfere with the other residents should be permissible. Also no items should be brought in that interfere with general safety guidelines.

Can family and friends visit at any time?
We do not have defined visiting hours. Family and friends are able to visit at any reasonable time during the day or evening. We want to promote a peaceful environment at the facility so we ask visitors to be sensitive to the needs of the other residents. We fully support a family being at a loved one’s side at any hour if there is a need.

Can residents make choices about their daily routine?
Your loved one had a routine prior to coming to Olive Ridge. We believe in making it as comfortable as possible by learning the resident’s routine they had at their home most of their life and adopting that.

Do you have an on-site hair salon?
No, but we do have a beautician that will come to the facility to perform routine hair care. We can also coordinate and transport visits to a local salon.

Can residents keep medications in their room?
It is rare that a resident would have the need to keep medication in the room. The staff of the facility is readily available to administer medication at the time the resident needs it. A physician signature is required for residents to self-medicate. If physician approved the medication would have to be in a lock box so no other person would have access to it.

Are bathrooms located in the resident’s room or do they have community bathrooms?
Bathrooms are located in each of the resident’s room.

Do you provide wheelchairs and or other assistive devices like walkers, splints, canes, etc?
Yes, we provide these assistive devices and have them readily available as conditions and situations change with residents.

Do you provide personal hygiene products?
Supplies provided by the facility in the monthly rent include: basic laundry services, tissues, soap, shampoo, towels and wash clothes. If a resident prefers to have special brands, etc. these may be purchased with their personal funds.

Do you have an outdoor area for resident use and do you help the resident get outdoors?
Yes, we have a beautiful deck overlooking Berthiaume Lake. Depending on the residents ability and desires we will assist them in going for a walk, sitting on the deck, using the pool at our facility or pursuing other outdoor activities.

What are meals like? Can a special diet be support? Can Family and friends join him/her at mealtimes?
Meals are prepared on-site. The nutritional intake of each resident is closely monitored. The residents can make choices in their eating habits and the meals can be catered to the resident’s likes, dislikes or health needs within reasonable limits. Yes family members are welcome to join us for a meal. We would appreciate advance notice so we can plan accordingly.

How often are snacks provided?
Snacks are typically provided three times a day. But residents are able to request snacks at their discretion.

Do you have facility transportation available for outings and events?
Yes, a resident, guardian or responsible party must first give Olive Ridge permission (one time) for field trips and outings.

Will I need to schedule and take my loved one to their doctor appointments?
Olive Ridge will transport and send a skilled care taker with the resident for local appointments. Appointments that require skilled care for long durations or in another city may incur an additional cost.

Yes and we will assist the residents in a way that allows them the dignity and respect they deserve.

Are religious services available?
Our goal is to assure that all the residents are supported spiritually in the way they would like. The city of Buffalo has several churches and we will work to arrange from transportation which may incur an ancillary cost.

How do you inform families of changes in condition or care needs?
You will be called by the owner of the facility as changes occur. In talking to the family we strive to understand the level of communication they wish to receive.

What are the facilities licensing requirements?
Olive Ridge is a licensed Adult Foster Care Home. It is licensed by the State of Minnesota through a county agency.
